The Rio Grande Headwaters Land Trust celebrates the success of the Rio Grande Initiative, their ambitious program to protect private land along the Rio Grande river in Colorado. In the last three years, in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy, they've effectively doubled the pace of conservation in the Rio Grande corridor.
Last Friday, the 15th, they celebrated on the largest private ranch on the river in Colorado, which was protected in 2009. Attendees included U.S. Representative John Salazar, State Senator Gail Schwartz and State Representative Ed Vigil and many of the funders who made their work possible including Great Outdoors Colorado, the Colorado Division of Wildlife, theNorth American Wetlands Conservation Council and The Nature Conservancy.
