SB11-050 Senate Bill 11-50, introduced by Senator Ellen Roberts and co-sponsored by Rep. Cheri Gerou, has established a task force to study various aspects of eminent domain and condemnation law in relationship to conserved lands. The task force is charged with identifying existing statutes that can be clarified to better ensure that conserved lands will not be targeted by condemning authorities and that, in the event of a condemnation, the compensation is appropriately determined. The members of the task force will be appointed on or before June 15, 2011 and has representatives from the conservation community and condemning authorities, as well as appraisers, landowners, and local governments. The recommendations of the task force will likely be legislation during the 2012 session. |
