Organizational Membership
Information
Thank you for your interest
in joining the Colorado Coalition of Land Trusts (CCLT) as
a member organization. CCLT is committed to providing its
members with excellent service and leadership to help increase
land and water protection opportunities throughout the state.
Benefits of Membership
Members benefit from CCLT's
strong tradition of advancing conservation interests at the
capitol, at GOCO, and beyond. In fact, CCLT is the state's
only professional conservation organization providing a common
voice at the legislature and in other important venues to
ensure that members' interests are heard by the state's elected
officials and agencies. Moreover, CCLT provides its members
with other critical services, including the keeping its members
up-to-date on emerging conservation issues, providing valuable
trainings and assessments, building organizational capacity,
and serving as a vehicle to share our collective conservation
stories with the public. As a function of membership, member
organizations vote on candidates for CCLT's Board of Directors.
In addition, members will be approached for input on CCLT's
policy positions, governance matters and other issues. Finally,
members will enjoy reduced rates on CCLT events and will receive
all CCLT publications and informational updates.
Requirements for Membership
Regular voting membership
of the Colorado Coalition of Land Trusts is open to nonprofit
organizations and government conservation programs who:
1. Operate partially
or wholly within Colorado, and
2. Have missions or program purposes related to land or
water conservation, and
3. Acquire land or conservation easements for conservation
purposes, or
4. Facilitate such acquisitions or provide stewardship of
land or conservation easements
Voting members must demonstrate
that they have adopted the Land Trust Alliance's Land Trust
Standards and Practices and are working towards their
full implementation. While not all sections will be applicable
to local government open space programs, these programs must
demonstrate that they are working towards implementing those
standards and practices that are appropriate to their operations.
If applying for membership
for the first time, entities will be asked to submit certain
documents, including Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, a
list of Board of Directors or other governing body, and a
sample conservation easement. New members will be considered
provisional members and undergo a probationary period until
CCLT determines that the members are indeed striving to implement
Standards and Practices. All members will be asked
to have a representative attend at least one annual assessment
workshop or other evaluations and trainings as offered periodically
by CCLT.
Finally, members must pay
annual dues appropriate to the size of their annual operating
budget.
2005 Membership
